Remember me? I haven't updated my blog lately because Kylee is doing so well and I didn't want to jinx it! Stupid, huh? I'm not even superstitious! Oh well, what can I say?

You wouldn't even believe how well Kylee is doing! She is looking healthy, she is smiling, and her clothes are starting to fit!! Woohoo!!

We fired the therapist. After less than an hour, she told my daughter that her problem is an identity crisis . Of all the people that I have ever known in my life, Kylee is the one most least likely to not know who she is! This kid knows who she is, knows where she's going and knows how she is going to get there! We didn't feel like she was the right fit after the first session, and we were right. She isn't currently seeing a therapist and we are going to play it by ear for now. If we decide that she does need therapy, we have a new friend who is going through the same thing with her daughter and she has given us a good lead on a therapist that specializes in eating disorders.

On a non-eating disorder related note, Kylee made the president's honor roll!!! That's my girl!

dinner & a movie

I can't even begin to tell you how incredibly wonderful this day has been!! Let me start out by telling you that part of anorexia is social isolation. And because of that, Kylee hasn't done anything social with me or her sisters or her friends in a very long time. The last time that she and I did anything, other than go to the grocery store and the doctors office, was in September. We went to the Oklahoma State Fair, the health food store, Target (our favorite!), and to eat at Panda Express. I'm pretty sure that was also the last time she actually ate in public. But, today was different!! Today, Kylee, Logan and I went to THE MOVIE!!! It was the girls' choice and they chose to see The Princess and The Frog. Really cute movie. Then, and this is the BEST part.....we went to eat at Subway!! And Kylee actually ate...in public! She ate her normal sandwich (with cheese!) that she used to get and a bag of Sun Chips!! It was a normal lunch with two of my daughters! I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am right now! I know that this won't happen everyday, but I am thankful that it happened today. Kylee has come so far!! I can't even express in words how happy I am right n0w. Please pray that there are lots of days like this one ahead of us and that they aren't few and far between!

~Denise

good days and bad

We've been having some good days (thank God!)! I love it when Kylee has a good day. That usually means that I will have a good day. Her positive additude the past few days has been very encouraging. I know that throughout her recovery, there will be ups and downs. I'm thankful for both. Why? you ask. Well, the good days for obvious reasons and the bad days to learn from. I think every day offers a lesson of some sort. And the bad days will give us something to look back on and figure out what went wrong, what brought it on, what were you thinking, why? If we can just answer those questions and hang onto the answers, maybe next time those feelings, or whatever, come along we will know how to deal, what to do, say, think. So, yep, I'm thankful for those bad days but praying for more days like today!

3 steps back

Today I went to the doctor with Kylee for a checkup. When we went back, I told the nurse that Kylee did NOT want to know her weight. So, she turned around backwards on the scale, the nurse wrote down her weight, and all was good. We went to the exam room and the nurse took her temperature and blood pressure. I asked about her blood pressure, which was still low but the same as last time, and then the nurse told her that she had gained 2 pounds. Dangit! She has anorexia, she knows how much she weighed last time we were there! Why, why, why??!!?? I could just see her confidence of the last few days start to diminish. I tried to explain that this was a good thing. Of course, part of her brain knows this, the part that is Kylee. But the other part of her brain, the ED part, had her in a puddle of tears. Those 2 stupid (wonderful!) pounds had ripped away all of the good mood and positive-ness that had been the Kylee of the past weekend. It truly pissed me off! But I have to remember that there will be days like this. I just have to accept it. Even if I don't want to. It was really just a "get to know you" type of meeting. To tell you the truth, I'm just not sure if this is the right fit for us, but I guess we should give it a chance before we make any assumptions. She goes back next week by herself so I guess we will just have to wait and see.

After therapy Brian and I went out to eat Mexican food, my favorite! Kylee actually wanted us to bring her a children's enchilada dinner! I was more than excited! And she ate it, every last bite! You can read about it here. Of course, after that 2 steps forward day we a 3 steps back one. But that's to be expected. That's how recovery goes. I'm prepared for that and I am looking forward to when the steps forward outnumber the steps back. I know it won't happen over night, this thing didn't manifest over night, but it WILL happen.

One big contradiction

You know what is hard? (Like this whole thing isn't the hardest thing that I have ever dealt with? Huh!) While I am trying (trying is the key word here!) to deal with Kylee's ED, I am on Weight Watchers. How messed up is that? I'm trying to get her to stop measuring everything that goes into her mouth while I am measuring everything that goes into mine. Trying to get her to forget the numbers while at the same time, I am all about the numbers (gotta love those points!). This whole thing is nothing but a freaking contradiction. So, what do I do? Do I give up MY efforts to take care of her? I can't. I still have to take care of myself in order to take care of her. Besides, food is my drug of choice. And I definitely can't go back to that! See how it complicates everything? You can read about it here. This whole thing is starting to really piss me off. I struggled for so long as a single mom to make sure my kids were fed. I worked 2 jobs and sometimes even 3 to make sure that there was food on the table. I feel like ED is mocking me by starving my daughter. She starts therapy tomorrow night. We are starting out with a "master clinician". If she doesn't feel like she can help us we will move onto a psycologist. I hate ED, hate the worry, hate the fact that a size 0 swallows my child whole. Hate that she weighed 88 pounds yesterday and probably less today. Hate being helpless. Hate that I have to be medicated, myself, just to cope. I hate it all.

1 challenge down, 1 to go

Yesterday's "fried chicken challenge" went good. Kylee had, what most would consider, a normal portion of everything. We had fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, green beans, and rolls. She even had 2 rolls. I was very excited about this but knew that after eating "normal" food, food that she didn't prepare herself and didn't know the calorie count for, that she would panic. Before I went to bed I went in to check on her. This has become a nightly habit since she has started being so honest with me about her ED (eating disorder). She wasn't as freaked out as we both expected her to be and she told me that she was actually a little bit hungry. I encouraged her to eat if her body was telling her that it was hungry. Of course she ended up in a mental battle with ED. But she won and had a snack before she went to bed. This happens several times a day. It's always a battle.

Today is going to be another challenging day. Due to the blizzard of '09 here in Oklahoma, my girls had to skip Christmas with their dad's parents. So, they rescheduled for today. Lunch. Great. Spaghetti. Wonderful. This has caused great distress for Kylee, especially since I won't be there. She'll have her sisters but it's not the same. They don't really "get it" like I do. I told her to call or text me if she needs to.

On another note, Brian and I have to go to a memorial this afternoon for his cousin Mark. Mark was in his early 50's and found out a few weeks ago that he had cancer. They did surgery on him a few days ago and he didn't make it. Mark lived with his mom who was widowed and took care of her. Anna doesn't drive so Mark drove her everywhere she needed to go. I can't imagine losing a child even if that child is grown. Please pray for Brian's family and especially for his Aunt Anna.

Today was a good day

Today was such a good day! Kylee and I spent almost the entire day hanging out. We left the house and headed to the bookstores. We hit up Borders first and spent entirely too much money on books. But we can't help it, we love to read! We got a couple of books about girls who have recovered from anorexia and one about a girl who didn't make it to recovery. We are trying to learn everything that we can. We want all the facts and the more we can learn from people who have been down this path before us, the better.

Next we went to Barnes and Noble. And this is where it gets good...I ordered a Nook!! Merry Christmas to me, (thanks to my parents and my inlaws and their Christmas generosity!)!! They are sold out but it will be shipped February 1st, I cant wait!

Our next stop was our favorite store, Target. We got some groceries and some Christmas clearance. We love to shop, even if it's just for groceries!

I really think that Kylee's anti-depressant is helping. Her mood has been so much better this week. That really gives me hope. We are waiting for a call back from a therapist. And she ate good today, even breaking some of her self-imposed rules. Now we move on to tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a challenge. We are having dinner at my parents' house....fried chicken. Her fear is that she will lose control. I told her that I won't let that happen. She's afraid that she won't eat breakfast or lunch in anticipation of this challenging meal. All of these fears and it's not even tomorrow, yet. We will get through all of this together. She isn't alone. She has her momma!

OCD

In my research, (i.e. perusing the world wide web), I have made a discovery that makes so much sense to me. I don't even remember where I saw it at but it was like a revelation! I read that alot of times, kids who develope anorexia have also had OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)! HELLO!!! My kid has ALL kinds of OCDs! And that makes so much sense. This whole stupid thing practically screams OCD. She is totally obsessed with food, the numbers, she has a routine that she has to go through before she can eat anything, there are all of these "rules". If you've read Tara Frey's book, "Blogging for Bliss", then you know that you should have a purpose for your blog. To be quite honest, I never really gave any thought to what "purpose" this blog should have....until now.

After many months of being in denial, I have finally admitted to myself that my middle daughter, Kylee, has anorexia, and with her permission I will be blogging about her illness and her recovery. I have tried to find other blogs by moms who have daughters suffering from this horrible condition but so far I haven't found any. There are numerous blogs out there by the girls themselves, so I know there are moms out there going through the same thing that I am. I just need an outlet and this is it, my little blog's purpose.

As a person who has spent her whole life on a diet and for probably 12 years had my own eating disorder, (I had bulimia all through high school and most of my first marriage), I have a hard time not blaming myself. But that's what we do as mothers, isn't it? We carry the blame and the guilt. It's hard not to. And it is so hard to watch your child wasting away. I can't kiss it and make it better or hold her til it goes away. Right now all I can do is pray for her, nag her to eat, deal with the insurance company and try, try, try to keep it together and keep my own sanity. So far, I am not doing so good on that last part.

So, we went to the doctor today to talk about the blood work she ordered a few weeks ago and to discuss the anti-depressant that she put Kylee on. The nurse weighed her and she weighed 94.2 pounds....down 3 pounds from a few weeks ago. Dr. J. talked to us about the test results and about what Kylee has been eating when she drops the bombshell on me that she didn't eat anything yesterday....not one single bite. This is devestating to me. My heart is broken.

This is where we are. I'm at a loss as to what to do next. We are in the process of getting her into therapy. I probably need therapy, too, who knows. But, I would really appreciate your prayers for my daughter....my beautiful, quirky, intelligent daughter. She is truly so much more than this eating disorder.

What have I been doing?

What have I been doing for the last 2 weeks? Obviously not blogging! I have been so busy! Between being really busy at my regular job at the salon, baking (ALOT), and the other normal life stuff, I have been reading Julie & Julia! Those of you who know me, know that I read in the bath tub. Well, I couldn't put it down! I read it in the tub, out of the tub, everywhere but work. Hilarious! I guess I liked it because I could relate to her determination to finish, her mental breakdowns in trying to do so, all of her diasters, and the major messes she made! I almost peed my pants when she had to kill the lobster! Now I need to see the movie!!

Another thing I missed during the last couple of weeks is the fact that I won my first bloggy award from my bloggy friend, Pam!

She's so sweet. I love it! Even though my girls are half grown, they still love to dress up. And being a MiMi makes it even that much more fun!! Tiffany and Jalynn were the cutest mommy and baby bees. If you know anything about Oklahoma, then you know that we LOVE our football. OU and OSU were both playing during prime trick or treat time! So, I gave out candy and B watched football, yelled and cussed at the t.v.! Oklahoma football is an emotional event at our house!

Here are some of my favorite little spooks..

Ashton and Carson (Jalynn's BFFs) were a lady bug and a bug catcher.

Adrianna (daughter of my friend Deeona) was a witch (check out that cool chin and nose!) and Jake (my friend Leslie's little boy) was a monkey. It's the one thing in their lives that we have absolutly no say so in. There isn't a paper to sign. No permission to give. I don't like it. I knew it would happen, but did it have to happen so fast? Ok, so 16 1/2 years isn't exactly fast, but still! What I'm getting at is my baby is going today to take her driving test. Yes, she is almost 17 but the kid has a busy life and we are just now getting it done. In the state of Oklahoma you can't get your permit until you are 16 if you haven't had drivers' ed, and like I said, she has a busy life and drivers' ed never happened. After you get your permit, you have to wait 6 months to get your actual license. Well, that 6 months is up. To tell you the truth, I'm having a really hard time with this. Is it because she's my baby? Is it because I have a tendency to be a little bit of a control freak? Am I in denial? I don't know, maybe all three! Ok, definitely all 3!! Wish miss Logan luck, and pray for both of us!!!

Prayer needed!

Hey everyone! I wanted one sooo bad! I looked everywhere for one that was similar and inexpensive. I looked on Craig's List, Ebay, Goodwill, garage sales and used funiture stores. I never could find one that was similar that I could afford. But guess what? I have the best mother-in-law, EVER!! My father-in-law bought her a new chair and ottomon for her bedroom so she GAVE ME HER CHAISE!!!

She's like an oversized chair and I like that. Perfect for snuggling up with a good book.

Her upolstery is different and I like that.

She goes great with my living room.

And she was free! That's the best part, of course, 'cause I am all about free! The only problem is that my mother-in-law smokes so my little chaise stinks! I had her out on the patio for a couple of days to air out but then it started raining! She gets sprayed with Fabreeze everytime I walk by and this weekend we are going to give her a good shampooing. But until then, I will just sit on the sofa and admire her!!!

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the smoke smell?? Grease and flour a 10 inch bundt pan. In a large bowl, stir together cake mix and pudding mix. Make a well in the center and pour in eggs, water, oil, and mashed bananas. Beat on low speed until blended. Scrape bowl and beat 4 minutes on medium. Pour batter into pan. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until cake is tested done. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes then put on a wire cool rack and cool completely. To make glaze: in a small bowl combine powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. Whisk until smooth. When cake has cooled drizzle icing over the cake and add nuts.

This recipe is verrry good and very moist! Stir together, then beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed for aprox. 2-3 minutes.

Spoon the batter into prepared muffin pans. Fill each cup/liner about 2/3 full. ( I personally, use the Saucy Method with an ice cream scoop!)

Bake at recommended temperature on cake mix box (usually 325-350) for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. (For my oven it only takes 18 minutes.)

Frosting

In a large bowl, combine butter, cream cheese, lime juice, margarita mix, and lime zest. Beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

Add powdered sugar, one cup at a time and continue beating until smooth. If icing is too thin you can add more powdered sugar one tablespoon at a time.

Spread icing generously on each cupcake or use a pastry bag to frost. Garnish with lime wedges.

Now, go sit on a patio some where with some girlfriends and enjoy these cupcakes, cause everyone knows that is the best way to enjoy a margarita!!

Happy Birthday Brian!

Today is my sweet husbands birthday. Broken to a point that, even if common sense tells you otherwise, you are a afraid it has been permanently damaged beyond repair? Every realtionship that we have from the time of birth affects us in one way or another. I believe that we are who we end up being because of our relationships whether they are good or bad. We learn, grow, and become. I know that my girl will recover from this. She will be better because of it. She is growing up and I know in my heart that this is part of that process. But it doesn't change the fact that I hurt for her. My heart is broken right along beside hers. Don't forget, sweet girl, this too shall pass.

Try this sandwich!!

When I was a little girl, my grandma used to make pineapple cream cheese and we would eat it with potato chips. It was the perfect combination of sweet & creamy and salty & crunchy. I absolutly loved this treat, couldn't get enough! So, on "girls day out" with Fredde, when we had lunch at the cafe in The Market at Quail Springs, I ate a sandwich that immediatly reminded me of my sweet Grandma Betty.

They called it The Hawaiian and it was delish! I had to re-create this sammy! And, I have to say, I liked it even better at home! (My grandma would have LOVED it!!!)

You have to start out by making pineapple cream cheese. The already made kind at the store WILL. NOT. DO!! :)

All you need is 8 0z. of softened cream cheese and a 20 oz. can of crushed pineapple, drained. I use my Kitchen-Aid mixer and whip the cream cheese and then add the pineapple. Easy and yummy!! (You HAVE to try this with chips!! I'm not even kidding!!)

Next, toast 2 pieces of bread. They used potato bread, all I had at this time was wheat and it worked, too. I prefer to do this with butter on a griddle instead of a toaster, (you know everything is better with butter, just ask Paula Deen!).

Spread both pieces of bread with your pineapple cream cheese and then layer ham, lettuce, tomato and purple onion. I met my dear friend Fredde (pronounced Freddie) at her house and we headed out. Our first stop was Braum's for a quick breakfast and then off to purchase my sweet husband's birthday present which I can't talk about here because he reads my blog! Then the adventure really got started! Next, we spontaneously stopped at a wholesale market that sells home goods. We got to shop there because Fredde has connections!! Here are a few of the lovelies that I purchsed...

Sweet little fence for my flower bed.....

Darling little flying pig. (I don't know why I needed this, but I did!)

And a planter basket for my front door....

I plan on planting some sweet potato vine in it. It will look great on my black front door, don't ya think?

Next stop, The Market at Quail Springs. I love The Market. It used to be a movie theater and now it houses booth after booth of awesome stuff for your home. Some of it is priced a little high. And some stuff we had just seen at the wholesale market that we had just left!! Fredde bought me this awesome runner,('cause she's sweet like that!). She thought it would work great on my dining room table (which it will, eventually) but I have it on my grandma's antique buffet in my foyer for now. Love it!

While at The Market, we ate in their cafe'. I had their Bistro Salad and The Californian sandwich. Delish!!

I will definitely be copying both of these at home, YUM! And then I will share the recipes with you, 'cuz I'm sweet like that!

We shopped and we ate. I tried to keep him from finding out about it but we went to his 25 year class reunion and everyone was talking about it! That's how most of the people there found out about the reunion to begin with. Now I can't ever get on the computer because he has to check his Facebook!!! When I decided to start this blog, I swore to myself that this was not going to be another one of THOSE projects. You know, the ones you start and never finish? I am determined to either put a stop to B's relationship with Facebook or somehow convince him that we need a second laptop! We need a second laptop that is PINK! That's right!! That's EXACTLY what we NEED!!! Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this?

Hopefully, this won't be my last blog entry.....wish me luck!!

Meet the Family..Part 5 (the last one, I promise!!)

I would like to introduce you to the youngest member of our family...Jalynn Paige. Jalynn is my grand-daughter. She is almost 4 and, let me tell ya, she is a little spit fire, a total ball of energy! And, I have to say, my favorite person in the world! I could continue to brag on her. I could go on and on (really!) but I'm not going to. Instead I am going to tell you how we almost lost her. Believe me, you will hear about her...ALOT!

A little over a year ago I received the worst phone call ever. Jalynn had been in a terrible car accident and had been rushed to OU medical center. That's all anyone knew. Her mom was at work and so was I. I knew that Tiffany had no business driving so I had her meet me so that I could drive her to the hospital. I had to be the calm one, the strong one. The worst part at this point was not knowing how badly she was hurt or what had happened.

I am going to let her Uncle Vic tell you what happened. He was the driver of the car that Jalynn was riding in. Vic was 19 at the time and I copied this from his blog on Myspace. Please ignore any typos or any other mistakes, Jalynn was still in ICU when he posted this.

"i cant stop thinking about what happened. it replays in my head over and over again and again. me my sister San Juana and my niece were out for a drive when my niece got hungry and wanted a chicken nugget happy meal from Mcdonalds. she was not feeling well so we went through the drive thru. we turned out in to the turn lane at the intersection of s.w. 59 th and penn. ave. she was upset and did not want to be in her car seat. Anyone who has ever had a child has let that child into the front seat just a couple of blocks from home so they would be happy. she climbed up front and gave us the biggest smile. a maroon 1996 chevy tahoe was also in his turn lane to turn east on to s.w. 59th street. We were turnigng west on to 59 th street. the driver of the tahoe decided not to turn and instead floor his gas pedal to go south on penn ave. At 2:11 pm on saturday june 28, 2008 a maroon chevy tahoe sturck a red 1998 mitsubishi eclipse causeing the airbags to deploy with an extreme force causing 2 year old Jalynn Paige to become unconscious. We had not moved 6 inches before we were hit. With my car still sitting in the turn lane I opened my door grabbed jalynn and put her in the grass were she would be safe from more traffic or the car catching fire. she was not breathing at the time i laid her down supporting her head. The driver of the tahoe did not stop at all. he fled the scene and was later arrested at a corner store at 74 th and douglas. No one saw what i did that day. i had to pull my 2 year old niece from my totaled car and beg her to breath. Seeing the burn on the side of her face were the airbag hit her. Seeing her blood on her face. She lied thier in my arms motionless for what seemed like hours. She took a gasp of air and all i could do was keep begging her to do so. Jaylnn was taken to O.U. medical center were she is getting better and will get to go home soon. Everyone keeps telling me and san juana how it wasn't our fault and how it could of happened to any of them. I dont agree with that. they all love her just as much as we do but they only seen her in the hospital begging for her to be okay and fighting for her life. A fight that Jalynn won. I cant stop seeing her lie in my arms lifeless with my tears falling over her begging and praying for her life to return to her body. the moment she began to breath again and let out that first cry of the pain.It killed me to see her that way knowing that she was left in our care when this happened and knowing no matter what i did. This time Jalynn was not going to open her eyes forget what was going on smile at me and say "thanks vic" or " I love you vic". I am sorry for what happened. I LOVE YOU JALYNN. Jalynn will get to go home soon and i cant wait to tell her that i love her and can't wait for her to say it back."

It's been just over a year ago and she doesn't have any scars, no brain damage (she had a brain bleed), and no hearing or sight problems, which were a concern. I knew it was on the memory card in the small digital camera that I carry in my purse. I took my memory card down to CVS to transfer my pictures onto a cd. None of these pictures were the one that I was looking for. Dang!! So back home I go. I tore my house apart, people!! Could not find that memory card anywhere. I looked high and low for 2 days....nothing! So, I gave up and published my post with a not so great picture of her and called it a day. Today I had to run home and let my dogs out, walked through my living room and right there on my end table, in the digital frame my mom gave me for Christmas, is that blasted memory card! So, to make me feel better and to really show you how beautiful my girl is, I have to post a better picture of her.

Ahhhh, that's better!! She is 16 and when school starts she will be a junior. Even as I type this it's a shock to me!! When did this happen and how? I'm sorry, but I did NOT give permission for this (insert foot stamp here) nor do I approve of it!! I guess it's hardest with her because she was always my baby! And did she ever play that role well! She probably didn't need to walk until she was 5. Between me and her big sisters her feet rarely touched the ground! When she was 10 I had to make Kylee stop picking out her clothes for her everyday because I was afraid she would never be able to dress herself at the rate things were going. (She has since learned to do this!)

Logan has always been my sweetest and most compassionate child. She's the type of kid that will give her lunch money to a friend and do without herself. She split all of her spending money for church camp this summer with her best friend because she didn't have any. For her friends' birthdays she draws a picture of them and adds a poem to it and gives it to them as their gift. My husband and I were fortunate enough to receive one of these special gifts for our anniversary. It's something that will always be treasured.

Of all my girls Logan is the tomboy. Not that she's not girly, she's a good combination of both! That's how I always was. And that's about all she got from me! She is the spitting image of their dad and looks nothing like her sisters. Usually people don't even realize that she is mine. But she is...she is and forever will be my baby!

Meet the Family Part 3

Kylee is not your typical child. I always said that if I could be guaranteed that all my children could be like her, I would have a dozen! Not that there is anything wrong with my other two girls. It's just that Kylee has always been soooo easy! She was an easy baby, and ALWAYS happy!! She never cried in the mornings when she would wake up...I'd go into check on her and she would give me the biggest smile and say "Hi, mommy!". And my heart would puddle!!

It got really interesting, though, when she started developing her own little personality! She couldn't stand for anything to be around her waist, so all of her clothes had to go below her belly! She would only eat chicken nuggets or pancakes for the longest time! Insisted on wearing her shoes on the wrong feet, and there for about 3 months, when she was 3, would only wear this one dress and she had to wear it everyday! Of course, I had to wash it every night so after she got tired of it, it wasn't even good enough to use as a dust rag!! And the poor girl had a speech impediment. Tiffany was the only one who could understand a word she said so we called her the Interpreter! Kylee was always trying to tattle on Tiffany and Tiffany would have to tell us what the heck she was saying! We called Kylee the Informer.

Now Kylee is 18 and absolutly beautiful! (and, thank God, the speech impediment is gone!!) She is so smart that I sometimes wonder if she was switched at birth! And organized!! The child is sooo organized! I used to joke around that when she turned 12 I was going to turn the check book and all the bills over to her because I knew she could do a better job than me! You think I'm kidding? She starts college in the fall and wants to be a high school English teacher. That's the perfect career for her..her nose is always in a book! (ok, maybe she wasn't switched at birth because I am the same way!!)

Denise

Meet the Family Part 2

I had my oldest daughter, Tiffany, when I was 18. We kinda grew up together. She has been my playmate, friend, child, and sometimes even my enemy, (not really, but that's what it felt like during her teenage years!). We've laughed, played, cried and fought. She's the kid that made me call my mom and apologize for every bad thing I ever did as a child! (My mom said apologizing wouldn't change anything but she appreciated the effort!!) She was and is my wild child! I have to say, though, despite the constant battles, she has turned into a beautiful young woman. She is now almost 24 (next month) and a mom herself. She is going to college, ( she wants to be a police officer!), works full time and is a single mom.

I know that sometime in the next 10 years I will probably be getting that call from her apologizing for everything SHE did as a kid!!! Today's character is my husband, Brian.

B and I have only been married since May of '08. We both had been divorced for 12 years and knew almost immediately that we had met our soul mate! He never had any children but loves my girls like they are his own. I have been blessed with this man and I am so very thankful! Believe me, God definitely knew what he was doing when he put the two of us together! Brian is quiet, I never shut up. He is laid back, I am slightly, (ok, ALOT!) high strung. He is slow to anger, I tend to fly off the handle! We fit perfectly, he and I. I wonder, almost daily, how he puts up with me. I am always breaking or losing something, screwing something up. And I ask him all the time if he regrets marrying me (and my kids!!). He always tells me that no, he loves me, and he has never for one minute had any regret! Ya know what? I believe him!

Denise

Finally!!

So, I have been a blog stalker for as long as I have known what a blog was. And I've thought for a long time that it would be fun to have my own. I've thought about it, dreamed about it and talked about it!! I've finally decided that the time has come to actually go through with it and stop talking about it! Be a "doer", if you will. Now, this is no easy task for a girl like me. And not just because of the time it takes to have a blog, or because I am a self employed mom of three girls, a wife to a wonderful man, mimi to a 3 year old grand daughter or any of the other things that keep me going 90 to nothing every day!! Nope, none of that is the issue! The biggest problem is that I am one of the most technologically challenged people I know!! Not to mention I am horrible at grammar and the queen of run on sentences!! But, all of that aside, I think this will be a fun venture! And a great way to keep distant family and friends up to date on whats going on in my little piece of the world!

There!!! I finally did it! WooHoo!! I am officially a blogger!!

Denise
